Hannah Dale - Headshots

These amazing blue eyes! When she walked into my London studio I felt like a child peeking through a sweet shop window and I simply couldn't stop staring.Looking at Hannah’s portraits, one just cannot believe her eyes aren’t CGI or Photoshop enhanced but believe me, they’re as real as they get.Apart from her striking eyes, she is a very talented actress and although we didn't have much time after our headshot session due to her busy schedule, she agreed to answer a few short questions when we were done. Here they are:

How did you get into acting?

I first realised I wanted to be an actress when I was 4. My grandma was a jobbing actress and she used to talk about her roles and experiences in the theatre and I thought it sounded so glamorous.

When did you start your acting career?

I trained at the Poor School and graduated when I was 25 years old and have tried to be professional ever since.

What is your favourite movie and in few words why?

My favourite movie is Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia. The acting is just wonderful. Every single character is beautifully realised. Think it’s the best thing Tom Cruise has ever done.

Who is your favourite director?

One of my favourite directors is Ivo Van Hove. I love the way he uses space on stage and also how he gives his characters that space to breathe and exist in whatever situation. His View From the Bridge is one of the greatest things I’ve seen at the theatre. I was completely absorbed which is amazing considering the length of the play running without an interval!!

What would be your dream role as an actress?

My dream role as an actress would be to play Blanche du Bois in Tennessee williams’ Streetcar Named Desire or Sally Bowles in Cabaret! Actually, Sally is the dream!

What do you think makes a good portrait?

I think a good portrait will really capture the essence of the person.

Do you have any hobbies outside of acting if yes what are they?

I’m a musician as well. I love playing the piano and singing.

Any advice that you’d give to starting actors?

I would tell any actor starting out to not compare yourself with others. You are on your own journey and that’s ok.

Who would you like to star alongside of?

Do they have to be alive? I would have loved to star alongside Marlon Brando, but if it someone living probably Viola Davis. She is a tour de force!
